Types of T-shirt Quilts
Sashed T-shirt Quilts
The sashes t-shirt quilt is the standard design, with each shirt design on a full 15″ square block, and the blocks sewn together with 2″ strips of fabric, called sashing, of a color of your choosing. The sashing unifies the design of the quilt. The sashing color can complement the theme of the shirt designs, using a school color such as Fayetteville Bulldog purple or Arkansas Razorback red, or it, in the case of a widely varying collection of shirts from different events of interests, can be a neutral color to unify the design of the quilt.
Random T-shirt Quilts
The random layout is the other most popular design of t-shirt quilts. In this layout, the designs of the various shirts are cut closer to their own size and proportion and are arranged and assembled accordingly. The advantage of the random layout is the use of a lot more shirt designs in the same size quilt. A random layout t-shirt quilt can sometimes utilize half again more shirts than the same size sashed layout.
